Our Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) Forum is always looking for ways that we can work together to recognise, celebrate, and respect diversity. Black History Month, this month, is another great opportunity to do this.

Celebrated throughout October, the event aims to share, applaud and help us to understand the impact of Black heritage and culture. This year the theme is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ to acknowledge the contribution of Black people to society, which has often been overlooked or distorted.

You can find out more about the event by visiting dedicated Black History websites here or here  –  where you’ll find an array of related articles, videos, features and events to explore. There’s also a list of  things you can do throughout the month to celebrate the event; from subscribing to black British influencers to trying out African or Caribbean recipes or hosting a Black movie night – there’s even a suggested list of films to watch.

We’re encouraging all of our colleagues to talk about the event, find out more about it and reach out to Black colleagues who may welcome the chance to discuss the event and what it means to them.
